Spain’s dominance was so total that Argentina failed to register a single shot on goal all match.

Discipline as the real story of the tournament

What made this Spain side different wasn’t just how they attacked – it was how little they gave away.  Spain conceded only a single goal in the entire competition, capping  index a genuinely undefeated run to the trophy.

Spain’s football throughout the tournament looked less like a team chasing moments of individual brilliance and more like an organisation quietly, repeatedly doing the basics better than anyone else: winning the ball back quickly, controlling territory, and refusing to open themselves up to the counter-attack.

Structure beat star power. That’s not a knock on Argentina’s talent, it’s a testament to how far a team can go when every player knows exactly what their job is, does it under pressure, and doesn’t need a moment of magic to win the biggest game in football.
